Students used foil to make spaceships that could land on the surface of Oobleck without sinking into it.

Oobleck

We had gooey, messy fun with Oobleck, a non-Newtonian fluid made of cornstarch and water. The students discovered that when you hit it or press on it it acts like a solid, but if you touch it softly it behaves as a liquid. It's both solid and liquid!

More Owl Pellet Explorations

It's not easy assembling, or putting together, the remains of a dead animal, is it? Now you get a feel for what paleontologists go through to assemble dinosaur skeletons.

Exploring Owl Pellets

As part of our unit opener on Fossils, the students removed bones from owl pellets. Then they matched the bones with a diagram of a vole, a common prey for owls.

Everyone Loves Pepperoni Pizza!

Pizzas Coming Out of the Oven!

Slowly but surely, the pizzas started rolling out of the oven. It takes 6 1/2 minutes for the pizza to pass from one side of the oven to the other.

On Our Way to Papa John's!

The day finally came for us to take a walking field trip to Papa John's! We had perfect weather. Last year it rained while we were walking back!

Orff Sound and Movement Piece

Today we learned a song called Splishing, Splashing. Then we did our first sound and movement piece using the Orff barred instruments! Some students played the metallophones, xylophones, and glockenspiels, while others created movements. We made connections to the story Mushroom in the Rain.

I Wanna Go To Hawaii

Our Little Garden

Singing to Help Our Plants Grow!

Today everyone was in a singing mood, so we sang "Kokoleoko" to our little garden to help it grow!

Candy World

When we laid out all the student work it looked like a small city. The students named it Candy Land and Candy World.

Building Square Pyramids

Square pyramids have four faces that are triangles and a square face on the bottom. They also have five vertices and 8 edges.

Cubes and Rectangular Prisms

Remember, all the faces of a cube are square, and all the edges are the same length.

After building cubes and triangular prisms we moved on to rectangular prisms.
